PROGRAM REPORTING FROM OUTSIDE AUSTRIA

For live performances outside Austria, there are certain special regulations to be observed.
For live performances outside Austria, there are certain special regulations to be observed.

Here is what you need to know before you report the program from your performance outside Austria.

The reporting from events outside Austria has to be conducted by the respective affiliate company or CMO, including the setlist of the pieces performed. The basis for the distribution of royalties is this registration of the event itself. For that reason, it is recommended to take the step of cross-checking your setlist with that of the event organizer and to ask for a copy of that event registration.

The program reporting in the service portal constitutes a service for our members, yet does not replace the event registration on the part of the event organizer. In case of any discrepancy between the program report done through our service portal and the event registration done by the event organizer, the royalty distribution proceeds on the basis of the event registration by the event organizer.

The program reporting in the service portal serves the following purpose:

  1. to inform our respective affiliate CMO about the event which has taken place. In case of an event organizer failing to register the event, the affiliate company can get in touch with the event organizer in order to enable the royalty distribution calculation.
  2. in case no funds from the international performance arrive, the program reporting can serve as the basis for any potential complaint if it is submitted within the deadlines (see below).

Program reporting both for pop and classical music has to be done through the service portal www.akm-aume.at. Program reporting by email or post unfortunately cannot be accepted. Detailed information about reporting can be found here: Guidelines for Reporting from Outside Austria.

For the authors of classical music: there is currently no special separate process for program reporting entering of this kind. In case it isn’t obvious exactly how many musicians are in a given orchestra, you can instead enter in your own name for the blank that says “Music group” and for the number of groups, you can enter in “1”.

Should you not yet have login info, you can request that here. Please take note that it is not permissible to give your login data to third parties such as publishers or labels.

Reporting for Italy through the service portal is unfortunately not possible because only program reporting that is conducted through the SIAE website is acceptable. This has to be coordinated with the event organizer and reported directly through the web portal of the SIAE here:
https://www.siae.it/it/utilizzatori/bordero/

Program reporting should be submitted only for public events since in case of private events, no royalties can be paid out.

For events outside Austria, only musical performances can be charged by AKM for royalty payments. The collection of royalties for the presentation of literary works or moderation has to be done through CMO “Literar Mechana”.

In case of several events abroad involving performances with the same exact program, one individual program report for each event nevertheless has to be submitted. There is however the option in the service portal to create a setlist which you can then apply to your program reporting entry.

The form has to be filled out completely so that the works are assigned to the right composer and so that the right version of the work performed can be calculated for royalty payment (for example, with or without the accompaniment of an arranger). Please take a moment to enter in the external repertoire into the program list that was played at the live performance. Your fellow colleagues will look forward to compensation for their protected works as well! Please make sure that your works have been reported with us. This speeds up processing.

No, since due to technical reasons, only the online reporting ⎯ and not the printed program booklets ⎯ can be forwarded on to our affiliate CMOs.

No. Program reporting prior to the actual event will not be accepted by our affiliate CMOs.

Program reporting for performances outside Austria are forwarded on to the respective responsible affiliate CMO for further assessment. The earlier that the information about the event taking place arrives to our affiliate CMOs through our service portal, the faster that the distribution of royalties can be calculated accordingly. For that reason, it is recommended that you submit the program reporting as quickly as possible after the event.

Generally speaking, a deadline applies for live performances 3 years after the year of the event up until the end of November of the respective year at the latest.
Please take note of the following exceptions:

  • USA: Due to U.S. royalty distribution regulations, events from 1/1 to 31/12 of the previous year can only be reported up to the 1st of April of the current year at the latest.
  • UK-PRS: Due to U.K. royalty distribution regulations, the event date can only be up to a maximum of 10 months prior to today’s date.
  • Spain-SGAE: Due to the specifications by the Spanish affiliate CMO, the date of the event can only be a maximum of 10 months prior to the current date.
  • Italy-SIAE: Reporting through the service portal is not possible since SIAE only accepts program reporting through their own website. This has to be coordinated with the event organizer and submitted directly through the SIAE web portal:
